The Gold Coast Amateur Radio Society will be holding a 
"Old Timers Day"

This will be forming a part of Seniors Week for the Gold Coast.

The day will be starting at 11:00 at the GCARS Club House,
 85 Harper Street, Molendinar.

Should you like to attend but have no transport 
please email  George VK4TD at president@gcars.com.au 
so we can assist.
Or give VK4TD a call on the morning net.

There will be a BBQ happening on the day as well.

All Amateur Radio Operators / families and potential Amateur Radio Operators are most welcome to come along.

Welcome to the back 6 months of the year, if you have been thinking about becoming a member of GCARS now would be the time to do so. 
For the last 6 months of the year (July to December) GCARS offers 1/2 price membership for the remainder of the 2014 period. 
If you would like to know more, email the Secretary or Treasurer or fill out a membership form in the forms section.

Don't have a Amateur Radio Licence no problems,
Pop on down on Saturday afternoon to the club house for a chat.

29th March 2014

Change of antenna at GCARS.
on Saturday we changed a few antenna's on the eastern tower.
Removed the 2mt vertical, 70cm Yagi, replaced with a Diamond CP6 vertical HF antenna and 2 mt folded dipole.

Monday nights on 146.700 MHz Trivia Night at 19:30 sharp.

Your Master Trivia Coordinators will be either
Peter VK4BT /  Fred VK4FAAP / Eric VK2TRD
 who will commence the Trivia night.

Any one can bring the questions for the next night just let Peter, Fred or Eric know.

This is a fun night with questions given on a multiple range of topics' (multiple choice)
Have pen and paper ready to go.
(unless you have a great memory)

We would like to hear you on air.

The Society welcomes new members, whether already certificated Radio Amateurs, or those wishing to get into the hobby. 

 
The Society runs classes to prepare would-be amateurs and also holds examinations conducted under the auspices of the Wireless Institute of Australia.

The Society has been responsible in recent years for inducting more people into the hobby than any other organisation in Australia.
